A
picture is a tangible and often moving reminder of times past.
Because we cannot see and do everything we would like to on
this earth, a picture can also be an assurance that other things
and places, particularly about nature, do exist. We feel they
are being well looked after so others and future generations
will also be entertained, excited and continue to be moved to
conserve them. |

Queenslands
nature in pictures
Images
here represent but a brief cross-section of Queenslands
many hundreds of habitats and thousands of wildlife species.
They are a reminder how well Queensland is endowed with nature
in its many forms.
Gaze upon
dense rainforest and grassy plains, coral reefs and rocky
headlands, placid lakes and tumbling waterfalls, rugged granite
outcrops and painted sandstone cliffs, an historic fort and
broad, sandy beaches, decorated limestone caves and a palm-fringed
oasis. |

Marvel at the
furry sugar glider and yellow-footed rock wallaby, the bilby of
the western desert, the orange-thighed green frog, the helmeted
cassowary and the humpback whale, captured only by camera.
These precious landscapes and wildlife are in the care and management
of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
On behalf of the Queensland Government and Queenslanders generally,
the Service is custodian for all native plants and animals and a
range of protected areas including national parks and reserves such
as marine parks.
The Service is required by law for example to manage a national
park to provide to the greatest possible extent for the permanent
preservation of the areas natural condition.
While protecting
the areas cultural resources and values, the Service is also
obliged to present these. The community can visit national parks
and see the scenes and wildlife presented here in the knowledge
their future is assured.
Included in the full version of the screen saver are 4 ambient musical
compositions. (The software only version is also available on a
professionally produced CD-ROM for US$19.95).
Designed specifically for Windows 95, 98, NT4 and 2000, and powered
by a first-rate 32-bit screen saver engine, the screen saver contains
many user customisable options. You can use the built in Windows
password protection to stop the de-activation of the screen saver.
Adjust the delay time between displaying images. Select any or all
of the numerous transition effects. Change the caption location
or font style of the caption, or remove the captions altogether.
You can make use of the Microsoft Plus! support which enables you
to display the screen saver immediately, or prevent it from appearing
at all, by moving the mouse pointer to a selected corner of the
screen. Most importantly, the screen saver contains images that
can be displayed at their original size (900x600 resolution) or
stretched to full screen, and all of the photo scans have been carefully
adjusted for best viewing even on average monitors.
